Scientists specialise in various fields of research. Through research, scientists have developed various systems and technical instruments to make everyday life easier and more comfortable. However, each finding comes with risks and benefits and it needs to be ensured that the benefits always outweigh the risks.
Due to the different perspectives of each individual, or each society, on the nature of risks and benefits, there can be different outcomes for this evaluation. Different opinions can then create arguments about whether to implement specific findings or not. Moreover, increased knowledge over time can change the information about certain risks, which makes the re-evaluation of scientific findings inevitable. A good example is the debate about nuclear power plants. On the one hand, they produce clean and green energy, but on the other hand, there are immense environmental and human consequences if they malfunction.
